What’s on in Perth this summer?

Summertime is one of the best times of year to enjoy everything that WA’s state capital has to offer. From food festivals, arts and cinema, to family events and the great outdoors, some of the best things to do in Australia are right on your doorstep.

Twilight Hawkers Market

The Twilight Hawkers Market is the city’s biggest street food market, bringing together diners with the tastiest hawker-style street food from all over the globe. It features live music, is family friendly and has dozens of stalls every Friday night from October to April, right in the heart of Perth in the CBD’s Forrest Place.

Perth International Arts Festival

The Perth International Arts Festival is the longest running annual multi-arts celebration in the Southern Hemisphere. Now in its 64th year, PIAF hosts 800 of the world’s most interesting and talented artists across multiple indoor and outdoor venues, including its new home, Elizabeth Quay. The festival connects with more than half a million people across WA and this summer runs from Feb 10 to Mar 5.

Fringe World

The Fringe World festival has a special place in Perth’s heart. It’s the third largest Fringe in the world and has a huge program of comedy, circus, free and family entertainment, theatre, visual arts, music and musicals, dance and cabaret performed by WA and international artists. With more than 700 events across about 150 venues, it provides 31 days of entertainment you won’t want to miss from Jan 20 to Feb 19.

Elizabeth Quay

Perth’s brand new Elizabeth Quay plays host to an impressively diverse range of events throughout the summer, from sporting events and exhibitions to makers’ markets, live performances and public theatre. The backdrop of the Swan River makes it one of Perth’s most exciting and beautiful venues.

Open-air cinemas

Perth has an array of open-air cinemas in and around the city centre, showing new releases, popular and cult movies and they all serve drinks and snacks. So whether you prefer beanbags, deckchairs or picnic rugs, Moonlight Cinemas in Kings Park, Rooftop Movies in the CBD, Ben and Jerry’s Openair Cinemas on Riverside Drive or Burswood Outdoor Community Cinema, all give you the chance to relax for a night at the flicks under the stars.

Urban Orchard and Piazza

The Urban Orchard in Northbridge hosts Live at the Orchard with Perth Bar Pop – a great line-up of music under the stars with ticketed events November 4 to December 11. The Northbridge Piazza is public movie and theatre space with free wi-fi, dance events and free films for kids.
